Welcome to the International
Small Business Curated Experience

On behalf of the Economic Development Committee of the

New York Alumnae Chapter, we welcome you to this exciting

adventure of exploration and commitment to reimagining economic

development for enterprising Black businesses in Manhattan.

Our committee’s theory of action is “If the NYAC Economic

Development Committee provides programs focused on education

and support to Black-owned businesses, housing advocacy and

ownership, families, and students within its catchment area of service,

then participants will experience an improvement in their financial

positioning in the community, develop a strong sense of ownership

and self-worth, or become more aware of financial literacy.”

This robust statement drives our theory in use approach of the Financial EmpowerED Pathways approach of a five prong system of services for all members of the community beginning with our youth and ending with elders preparing to retire. Our five prong approach focuses on the following groups:

  • Prong 1: Black-owned and Financially Astute

  • Prong 2: Family Financial Health and Wealth

  • Prong 3: Wealthwise Youth Crew

  • Prong 4: Credit Savvy Moves

  • Prong 5: Financing Housing Security

The 2025 International Small Business Crawl brings together the collective efforts and experiences across all the prongs by providing the community an opportunity to support local businesses while being mindful of long-term financial responsibility and fortitude.

We look forward to your financial investment and participation.

Sincerely,

Dr. Monica George-Fields
