| New York Alumnae Deltas, Inc.
In the late 1980's, when Internal Revenue regulations made it difficult for business to contribute to organizations unless they had a 501(C)(3) classification, it became increasingly difficult to get contributions/grants. As a result, NYAC undertook steps to create a fully tax exempt organization. On February 11, 1993, not for profit status was obtained for an entity called, "New York Alumnae Deltas, Inc." On July 13, 1994, New York Alumnae Deltas, Inc. was recognized as a tax exempt entity under the IRS Code as an organization described in Section 501(C)(3). Most other chapters in the New York City area have followed suit. Presently there are four programs for which the corporation is used:
1) Proceeds from the New York Alumnae Chapter 's annual Evening of Elegance.
2) Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarships.
3) Certain requests for donations.
4) Delta House.
